Die Wahlresultate zeigen das Gegenteil. Regional ausgewogene Parteilisten, regionale Unter-Listen und das Panaschierverhalten sind Mittel, um trotz grossen Wahlkreisen eine lokal ausgewogene Vertretung zu ermöglichen. Abstract E: The canton of Berne increased the size of the electoral districts in 2006, following a cut of the number of seats in the parliament. The measure was meant to keep small parties in parliament despite the reduction of the size of the parliament. However, there were fears that peripheral and rural regions might lose their representation and be marginalised in increased electoral districts. In this article, I analyse the regional distribution of mandates in the new elected cantonal parliament, as compared to the previous election period. The results suggest that peripheral and rural regions did not lose from the re-districting. At the contrary: Regionally balanced party lists, party split lists for peripherical regions, and the voters' preference votes are means to guarantee the representation of the periphery even in large districts. We know from different instances that for voters that resid in the periphery, local representation is an important issue when it comes to elections, what means that parties are aware of the regional aspect when nominating candidates, and what implies that there might be an extensive use of panachage votes in favour of local candidates of other parties particularly in peripherical regions. Abstract: Direkte kantonale Parteienfinanzierung gibt es in der Schweiz nur in Genf und Freiburg. Ansonsten sind Zuschüsse an die Parlamentsfraktionen gang und gäbe; sie beliefen sich im Jahr 2001 auf gut 3 Mio CHF. Ferner finanzieren sich die Kantonalparteien oft aus Abgaben auf den Taggeldern der Parlamentarierinnen und Parlamentarier. Letzere varieren von Kanton zu Kanton stark. Genf, Zürich, Zug, Waadt, Wallis und Tessin sind etwas grosszügiger.
